A Democratic Mess
The few of you who read this blog must be thinking that the headline above is meant to be taken in it’s negative sense.
It couldn’t be further from the truth.
A Democracy IS messy. It’s back and forth horse trading. It’s barbed commentary from one side and it’s a sharp riposte from the other.
For those not used to the issues being aired in the papers these days, mark my words, it’s going to get worse. But THAT’S OK! That’s what being a democracy is all about. The faux camaraderie, and the put on back slapping and bonhomie that we had before was gloss. Glossing over a situation that was going from bad to worse.
The Star in particular appears to have taken a more neutral bent. Although it is still a ruling party mouthpiece. But the boundaries appear to be tested.
My point is that, enjoy the mess, wallow in it, but don’t forget the eventual mission; to build a country which is successful, multi racial, compassionate, happy, and at peace with itself.
